Denizli Water Workshop

The “Denizli Water Workshop” themed “Sustainable Water Management in Climate Change” was held on March 24–25, 2026, with the valuable contributions of the Governorship of Denizli, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality, Denizli Water and Sewerage Administration (DESKİ), the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Rectorate of Pamukkale University.

The opening session of the workshop, held at the PAU Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Yılmaz Congress and Culture Center, was attended by the Governor of Denizli, Yavuz Selim Köşger, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu, Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör, President of the Turkish Academy of Science, Research and Education Foundation Prof. Dr. Cumali Kınacı, Deputy General Director of DSİ Göktuğ İlter, Deputy General Director of the General Directorate of Water Management Satuk Buğra Fındık, and DESKİ General Manager Egemen Emre Beşli.

The Denizli Water Workshop was conducted in six sessions. Chaired by Prof. Dr. Mutlu Yaşar, a faculty member of the Department of Civil Engineering at Pamukkale University’s Faculty of Engineering, the workshop focused on the protection of water resources, the impacts of climate change, and water management strategies.

The final declaration of the workshop was announced to the public by Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör. The declaration emphasized that Denizli’s water security should be addressed through a holistic approach and highlighted the importance of implementing science-based, long-term strategies in response to declining groundwater levels and increasing water demand.
